Saadat Hassan Manto is the author of this amazing book; he wrote this book as usual in his daring style in criticizing social behaviors about evils. The most widely read and controversial short story writer in Urdu, he was born on May 11, 1912, in Shambala, in the Ludhiana district of Punjab. His writing career spans more than two decades and he wrote twenty-two short stories, novels, few collections of radio works, and many movie scripts. In our society people did not differentiate between good and bad, they consider the useful as bad and avoided the useful, people tried to hide the garbage under the carpet.
He was blamed for obscenity half a dozen times, three before and three after independence. He was always acquitted. Part of his most important work occurred in the last seven years of his life, a time of great financial and emotional difficulties for him. He died a few months before his forty-third birthday, in January 1955, in Lahore. Manto revealed the hypocrites and hypocrisy. He thought that political and religious leaders are responsible for the problems of the lower segment of our society. Meanwhile, he discussed the problems of the Pak India conflict.
