There is a beautiful collection of twenty-five stories in this book that represent the best short fiction in Urdu literature. “Memon Umar Muhammad” is the author of this amazing and informative book, he writes many other books on Urdu literature, but this is one of his best books. He tried to show us the reality of the world; He has such an ability to guide us through his words and stories. Most of the stories in this book describe the pain of the partition of India and Pakistan, as most of the younger generation is unaware of that part of the history of these countries. The story of “Toba Tec Singh” shows the irony of the ruthless thinking of the administration of both countries.

This is an enlightening and well-edited book for anyone interested in Urdu literature but not very familiar with reading the Urdu script itself. This is a brilliant collection of short stories. Urdu is rejected as a language in many parts of North and Northwest India. These kinds of books should be published to rediscover the works of Urdu poets and writers, because it serves to remind the public (even in India) that there are great stories to be found in Pakistan, in languages other than English. It is definitely a book worth reading; the author did a great job. These are beautifully translated stories, especially for those who are passionate about Urdu and ancient stories.
